Members of the congregation support various organisations, mostly with regular financial contributions,
some with practical help also.   Below is a list of some of them, together with their website address.

Established in 1979 as a Christian response to poverty, Traidcraft is the U.K`s leading fair trade organisation.

Its mission is to fight poverty through trade, practising and promoting approaches to trade that help poor people in developing countries transform their lives.

As an example, one out of every four bananas bought in the U.K. is fairtrade.
Obviously there are many fair trade products available - so what makes Traidcraft different?
~    Traidcraft starts working with producers before they achieve Fairtrade status, helping them reach neccesary standards.
~    Traidcraft invests in training and business development.
~    Traidcraft commits to working with producers long-term, and develops new fair trade products.
~     Traidcraft lobbies Governments to improve justice in trade.

So how do you buy Traidcraft products?   Fair Traders, who sell fair trade in their local communities, are the backbone of all that Traidcraft does ~ almost half Traidcraft`s sales income is generated by Fair Traders.    You will find that buying from them provides you with a wider range of fair trade foods and crafts to choose from.

Our local Trussell Trust Foodbank has become a  'Weapon of Choice'  for members of the congregation concerned  about
their local community.   Every day people go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to recieving an unexpected bill while
on a low income.    Our local Trussell Trust foodbank provides a minimum of three days emergency food and support to local
people experiencing a crisis.  Some of this food  (in tins or Longlife - keeps better !) is gifted by local church congregations
.  Regular emails keep people informed as to what types of food are required

Leprosy is a mildly infectious disease associated with poverty.   It is easily cured with a special course of antibiotics   Leprocy starts by damaging the small nerves on the skin's surface, resulting in a loss of sensation   Without the gift of pain, everyday activities are fraught with danger.   TLM now serves a population of 305 million in 26 Leprosy-affected countries
